played by sven vÄth !!!in a recent interview, i:cube mentioned how difficult it is to finish an album. he finally triumphed over the chimera and delivered a new ep – lucifer en discothèque – as a prelude to his forthcoming album (he must have fought the chimera for real!) after 15 years of an almost constant production, how can any artist possibly avoid the pitfall of repetition while re-inventing his style? cube delivers a masterly answer! as its name implies, transpiration (>perspiration< in english) is sure to make dance floors sweat around the globe. whats fascinating with these new tracks, especially transpiration, is the way chaix manages to reconcile the old with the new, his 15-year heritage of production with all the recent technological developments. this track reveals various influences, for instance todd terry, godfather of the 90s ny house, as well as sheffield rave parties of the same era yet revisited without an ounce of pomposity.
unbalance is an artist that developed his sound douring the last 5 years. coming from russia this artist found home in monasterio (moscow).

raw minimal techno specialist mono junk is back with a selection of new material on his own dum records. having pioneered key techno sounds as far back as 1990, more than 20 years later the influential finnish artist is still on top of his game. up first is halo, nine minutes of edgy techno with a nervy lead synth snaking around in paranoid fashion. rolling drums set a direct groove in motion below and the whole thing will be brilliantly hypnotic on the dance floor. halo 2 is a hallucinogenic bit of ambient with celestial drones and icy synth prickles making for a tense interlude, then musta peili is all fucked up and scuzzy, study and disrupted. sounding like a slowed-down techno track heard though a freezing snow blizzard, it is masterfully textured. farewell closes out the ep with an intergalactic bit of glassy melodic techno that will have you up on your toes.

the first bleed release of 2017 welcomes another new artist to the fold. a seriously respected nyc based studio aficionado and close contemporary/collaborator of the bleed-released dj spider, phil moffa is also known for working alongside anthony parasole and seth troxler as well as releasing solo eps on the corner, most excellent unlimited and plan b recordings. the mass action ep features three original peak-time techno tracks, psychohistory, dodecahedron and decimation, with a remix of the latter by label boss volte-face, all primed for peak-time club play.
like a slug persistently stuck to the bottom of a half-pipe in the community park over which there has been much debate, grey people has long been making tracks within proximity of the teenage forbidden zone from the detached, elemental perspective of a dark, moist creature. cryogenically frozen should we be? schwarzenegger cries liquid nitrogen teardrops but allows you entree to the dance floor, filled with the icy carved physiques of electro snowmen. coma tunnel makes going flatline sound beautiful and sad. the fluorescent hum of the bulbs lighting the conical ceramic passage to oblivion provides a nostalgic pillow to press our face into. on the b side, the tornhawk squad mess-up of coma tunnel begins with toddler-techno thuggery. then guitar chews grape nuts cereal all loud in the ear of your high school principal. then some screechy, finally soothing greeting from the angels that escort you to afterlife s beanbag chair.

east wall was an italian electronic dark wave band started by fabrizio chiari (ex keyboardist of kirlian camera) and wilma notari in 1982. “silence” was self released by the band in 1991.
we decided to expand the album, releasing it as a deluxe double lp cut louder at 45 rpm. we have also included an unreleased extended version of “ice of fire” and the bonus track “intro”, found on the dat tapes fabrizio chiari sent us. all songs are remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. it is housed in the original jacket, featuring a dramatically lit photograph of the band by andrea gambetta. each copy includes an 11x11 double-sided insert with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by intergalactic gary, who’s despair mix turned us onto to this album all songs are remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. housed in the original jacket featuring a photo of a boy by pushe 27. each copy includes a 2-sided postcard with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by flemming dalum.

in the summer of 2016 hove went to france for two weeks to start writing and recording his new ep portes du soleil. together with his girlfriend they spent two weeks at le pascalet, a house in the woods of the cevennes, right outside the small village of st. etienne vallee franç,,,aise. equipped with a sampler, a drum-machine,some synths, effect pedals and a mic for feld- recordings, he built the foundation of the 4 songs that would later become the ep portes du soleil. all the songs started out as live-jams. the goal was to create different moods and patterns inspired by the surroundings of the forest, long walks, playing petanque and plenty of pastis. the tracks were later fnalized back home at hoves studio in zurich. musically portes du soleil feels like the natural follow up to his debut ep journey to arendal. hoves tracks are wavering between sozzled grooves and warm, woozy atmospheres. field- recordings from their daily routine in and around the house were either used to enrich the ambiance, or as in calme infni, they were transformed into a whole song. even though portes du soleil was written during the summer, the record is not bound to any season it is simply an excerpt of hoves life in 2016.

a year after his last outing on the label, metamethod is back with a second ep for nightime drama. the man born simon haynes is a veteran of the scene who has worked under many different aliases and is now back at the techno frontline, creating the same sort of powerful grooves that made him so essential back in the 90s. ‘exoshift’ opens things up with a lurching, low sung beat that rocks back and forth as frazzled synths and rusty frequencies skate about up top. it’s body music that really makes a mark while ‘autofac’ then slips into more of a forward moving groove with prickly percussion and woodpecker hits all driving along a bleak techno landscape. last of all, ‘superlifter’ marries bulky, broken sounding drums with celestial pads that glow white amongst the murk and greyness of the rest for he track. it is atmospheric, grainy techno for serious heads only.

this release - a collaboration between ali x (alphonse from azari & iii) and mexicos theus mago - turns the heat up all the way to on and just leaves it there. the lyrical content of the title track would lead many to use descriptors like sexy, sleazy, and steamy like you wouldnt even believe, and while the music also bears that out its important to remember not to stigmatize something that almost everyone does at least a couple of times a week. vision, meanwhile, offers the perfect b-side accompaniment, a sci-fi techno workout where you dont even have to think about sex if you dont want to. the ep features dub versions of both tracks for more stripped-down club sets aimed at people who understandably have problems with the sound of the human voice. it also includes a remix by curses, whom we recently bumped into (he says cornered) in berlin and asked if hed provide one of his trademark eerie downtempo excursions. long story short: he said yes.

rhythm plate released one of the best releases on hudd traxx in 2007, half of rp returns under the guise of goshawk for hudd 055. matt brings astral t back with him for the a1 track and my heart certainly gives inside me a run for it s money. warm chords, lush vocals and slick beats are all laid down to perfection to kick off the ep in fine style.a2 follows the deep tones set on a1 with the wonderful high in the evergreens. the b side kicks off in a more upbeat style with yes in this way which would fit nicely in a derrick carter peak time set. goshawk finishes off with a cheeky garage number that is reminiscent of grant nelson s early work on nice n ripe which can only be a good thing.

tunnel signs is the nom de plume of australian born lover, fighter and romantic, ash moses. with a taste for playing and producing records that embrace the darkness, moses parts the sea and finds the wonky middle ground between reverb drenched postpunk, hypnotic techno and spaced out disco. having previously seen releases on labels such as nein, clouded vision and hakt he now finds a home with cutters records with this 12inch with will buck. the release, titled spirits came into existence when ash relocated to new york city, a place he had long dreamed of from afar. as luck would have it he found himself sharing an apartment with another likeminded electronic musician named will buck who became his studio-partner and eventual collaborator. having bonded over a shared love of synthesizers, drum machines and all things rhythm they soon began their own freeform jam sessions which paved the way for this 12inch release. spirits shares some of the slow hypnotic swagger and dark disco drone of red axes and multi culti but with a futuristic percussive palette of the likes of four tet. the heady modulated elastic synth sounds give way to deep undulating bass patterns and tribal percussion. on the flip, the lights get turned out and the acid turned up with an ominous techno rework courtesy of hivern discs own marc pino

over the years, lo recordings has taken pride in exploring a wide and broad range of sounds, genres and styles. to mark 20 years of lo recordings, we are taking a fresh and bold approach with our output to further explore the accelerating and refined developments in electronic music today. this is the first of our new phase of releases, a collaborative project between the two titans mr. g and k15. ‘a learning curve’ is exactly as the title suggests, an educational experience to un- derstand each other musically and technically, and to explore new territories and schools of thought. as avid users and fans of the mpc, as well as being extremely busy, both mr. g and k15 were given the same samples dug out of the lo recordings archives to each create a track which would remotely display their techniques and methods. this was quick- ly adopted to be the theme in a series of three releases to come out throughout the year from the pair. the results come in the form of mr. g’s mesmerising ‘navigate’ and k15’s introspective ‘the guilt within’, two very individual tracks in their own rights. ‘navigate’ is instantly recognisable as the work of its creator, armed and ready to bring the dance floor to hypnotic heights. with its rough and gritty sound, driving kick & synth stabs, and hauntingly majestic keys, we are thrown into peak of the night. on the flip, ‘the guilt within’ takes a turn to more ominous terri- tories, crafting an atmosphere on the other end of the spectrum to ‘navigate’. a beautiful and delicate journey carried along by light skipping percussion, immersive sweeping pads and a puls- ing sub which all come together to take the listener deep inside themselves.

hailing from brazil and since moved to toronto get weird welcomes hauy. music crafted to be played in the clubs or the deserts, these three tracks chart an important journey for hauy. each a part of his recent journey and growth. amanita is a magic mushroom (amanita muscaria) that took him to a place where he felt no longer with the living. a place of truth where he would no longer lie to himself. after finding his truth and coming back to the land of the living, he decided to express the feelings of his journey through his music. he further pondered what it all meant. the initial darkness of the trip and its aftermath, gave way to a more positive light. as he felt more and more positive, another song floated in to his mind. your way to paradise is the sunrise after the darkness. blue moon wasnt originally a part of this musical journey but now seems relevant to represent how he felt before the experience, as a part of his full circle, completing a personal expedition and exploration to our latest release

its an all us line-up as we welcome back to strictly the soulgasm main man brian coxx along with new production partner morsy for feel it, their stomping-piano tribute to classic house. new jersey man coxx is behind the memorable soulgasm sessions volumes 1 & 2 released on strictly at the end of the zeros/beginning of the tens, and hes currently celebrating ten years of throwing the infamous soulgasm sessions parties around new york city. bronx resident morsy has notched up a brace of releases with nervous and, as part of the developing coxx & morsy partnership, a trio of tracks on kenny summit s good for you imprint. formerly part of the itinerant nyc dj crew crooked disco, he s played festivals like coachella opening for the likes of moby and steve aoki and lately travelled to gigs in europe along with a neat sideline playing cruise ship events. you can find him playing his weekly residency mr purple on the rooftop of the hotel indigo on manhattan s lower east side.
